Max is a visual programming software that allows the users to connect objects with patch cords and create interactive sounds and graphics. The purpose of building this patch in Max was to show a simple exercise. This patch plays a quicktime video and allows the user to switch between different pixel dimensions. Because the pixel dimensions are resizing the video, it shows up as if it were playing in a high versus a low resolution video. The two dimensions are shown as “jit.movie” objects and are specified by the numbers that follow them. This exercise also shows two different ways to view the movie as it is playing. One way is through a “jit.pwindow” object which shows up as a window in the patcher itself. The other way is through a “jit.window” object which opens up a separate window for the movie.
