Always a Miss

The marionette is a young, naïve woman. She is constantly searching for a man to court her. The headless aspect of the design helps to show that this young woman does not think about her actions very much; it helps to show her naivety. The use of color in her dress draws the eye right to her. Red is a color of passion which works with the black lace to bring even more femininity to the design. The title of the piece itself is also a play on words. Since she had no man to court her, she is regarded as a “miss,” however, “amiss” as one word relates to something that is not quite right. Relating this to the Digital Media and Animation major and also to the Graphic and Media Design major, it is important to learn character design. Three dimensional character design is especially important in these major because it helps to teach form and space.
