Galapagos Penguin

Spheniscus mendiculus

This is the only penguin that lives north of the equator, in the Galapagos. They live and breed in old crevices or caves from lava flows. These penguins are threatened by many predators, including cats, dogs, rats, snakes, sharks, and seals. In order to help them survive, I have equipped each penguin with a katar, or a type of dagger. Each penguin has a katar on one of its flippers in order to help it fend off predators. This will enable the penguin to protect itself and to protect each other without inhibiting it from gathering food or swimming.
